Commitment! All the lectures and books I have read say you must believe in yourself and act “as if” in order to move toward (and beyond) any goals you might have for yourself.
Well, there it is. A commitment in the form of a cargo van, complete with information on the side – just in case you are curious as to just what IS Gypsy Threads – you can go right to the web address and check it out for yourself!
For years our trusty PT Cruizer would pull up to whatever show I was doing so full there sometimes wasn’t room for both David and I to travel together. Then we found someone who was trusting and willing to lend us their van in exchange for our “fun” car for the weekend. Flash forward one year and the trip to Minneapolis is planned (yes, a commitment was made). We would be traveling from northern California to Minneapolis – three day’s journey. Not only that, but, three days journey back home and the following day, leave for Livermore, CA, to participate in the Alden Lane Quilt Show. We knew some commitment needed to be made. So, online we went. Who knew it would be so difficult to find the perfect vehicle for our needs and (most importantly) our budget? We (actually David) finally found a dealer, a mere three hours away, that boasted they had just what we needed. As it just so happened we were going to be in the area for a show and would have the opportunity to stop and look.
I don’t know about you, but shopping for a vehicle is not my idea of fun. Hengehold Trucks is where we went, in Palo Alto, CA. This is a family (third generation) operated business and get this…they do not take a sales commission. They had me at hello! There was no following around the lot, just a warm greeting, an information sheet, and we were free to look at the cleanest used vehicles I have ever seen and NO PRESSURE!
Long story short, Marsha, (short for marshmallow-which is all I see when I look at that big white van) sits proudly in front of our home, boldly announcing that she is a working gal!
Speaking of commitments…I am committed to making 750 items to be handed out at the Creative Connection Event. One for each attendees’ bag. Now, I could have sent a business card or a flyer or some such thing to drop into the bags, but NOOOOOOOOO! I cannot tell you what it is yet, because it wouldn’t be a surprise to the folks who read this and are attending the Event! It is just killing me to not be able to share. Okay, I will tell you this much, it involves an envelope…each of which has to be hand stamped! That part is done. What goes inside has yet to be constructed and they have to be in the mail by the END OF THE WEEK! I need help. Yes, I believe I did hear you saying, no, you need to be commited!
Until next time, have a terrific day. Do one thing each day that makes you feel good. You know, like leaving me comment or telling a friend they just have to ready my blog! We’ll talk soon.
